Mommy and Me

I do this for the generation that's coming behind me.

As a mother, I care a lot about protecting the planet for future generations - my children. But with two children everyday life sometimes takes over and it can be challenging to focus on the bigger environmental issues. But we do our best and we cut down on eating meat, I don’t buy or use disposables and I made it almost a sport to shop 2nd hand fashion. As much as possible I support brands and companies that are actively doing something to help save the planets limited ressources by being innovative and taking advantage of the ressources already produced. I think it is important that we are mindful about how we choose to leave our planet for future generations.

In recent years sustainability has become quite a topic at our house. I believe that education and awareness is important to understand the consequences of our actions and how they will effect the planet and the future for my children. I love that small sustainable brands are popping up every where and I feel like there is a sustainable alternative to almost anything it’s just a matter of discovering them. I definitely support brands that take action because it is the future of our children that’s at stake.

I’m very happy with the increased focus on the environment and sustainability. We need to be mindful about how we use (and sometimes abuse) the planets ressources and we must all make adjustment to our life - big or small. At home we are constantly working to be better. I am very conscious about my shopping habits and I prefer quality above quantity and buy organic or sustainable materials. We have reduced our food waste enormously, we sort our waste and we have cut down on meat, but there is always room for improvement. But it is important that we keep focusing and we teach our children the importance of sustainability.

We have a responsibility to protect the planet that we will pass on to our children and their children. But it is also my responsibility as a mother to teach my son about sustainability and to show him by example how to take best care of the planet. In every day life I think a lot about how things we buy are made and I make sure to research brands before I buy. I have experienced that sustainability is much more than slapping the term “sustainable” on the hangtag. In my opinion, ethical and sustainable production practices is just as important.
