Our Productions

We are proud to work with manufacturing and production partners who believe and live by the same set of values as Copenhagen Cartel, and are committed to sustainable innovation and development within our industry.

We ensure that each of our partners are using available resources as efficiently as possible to minimize their environmental impact, that they invest in renewable energy (e.g. wind or solar power), and that waste is handled and recycled with care for the planet.

Furthermore, by producing all our collections within Europe, we reduce our overall CO2 footprint by keeping the transport of our products to a minimum.

Recycled ocean plastic

Most modern fishing nets are made of nylon or other plastic compounds, making them incredibly durable. Because of this, the nets drift around the oceans for years, carried by the currents and traveling vast distances where they catch and kill marine animals in a process called "ghost fishing" ultimately continuing the circle of devastation for decades.

We use recycled ocean plastic, mainly ghost nets, for our CC Swim and CC Active collections. The use of recycled ocean plastic impacts the planet in four crucial ways. It combats ocean pollution by reducing the amount of plastic in our oceans, thereby helping to preserve and save our beautiful marine life. By using waste, andrecycle it into premium quality products, we reduce the need for materials from virgin sources. This means we are saving water, energy and minimizing our overall carbon footprint.

The process

The ECONYL®  Regeneration System

Every year, around 640,000 tons of fishing nets are lost or left in the ocean. The Healthy Seas Initiative has given these nets a second life. By working with local fishermen, they retrieve the nets. The recovered fishing nets enter the ECONYL® regeneration system, the innovative process that allows the transformation of nylon waste such as fishing nets into regenerated nylon.

The ECONYL® Regeneration System is a unique process that produce 100% regenerated Nylon yarn using waste material instead of fossil raw material. As well as being a solution on waste, ECONYL® regenerated nylon is also better when it comes to climate change.

It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil.

Recycled cotton

In our Copenhagen Cartel x Thala Luna collab collection, all products are made from 100% recycled textile waste. Textile waste - a material usually regarded as valueless - is recycled into premium quality products.

We use recycled cotton because it is the most commonly used, yet least recycled types of fabric, and because regular cotton demands an unbearable amount of water to grow.

We use a mix of two raw materials – mechanically recycled cotton cutting clips collected from CMT factories and polyester from recycled PET bottles.

Each product in the Copenhagen Cartel x Thala Luna collection is marked with a water-saving print to tell you how much water the product has saved.

100% organic cotton

Organic cotton is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre and is an environmentally friendly alternative to regular cotton. The toxic pesticides, fertilizers and chemicals used to grow regular cotton have some of the highest levels of toxicity known to mankind, and harm the planets air, water and soil. The production of organic cotton relies on none of those chemicals and use 88% less water than regular cotton, reducing the pressure on the planets water supplies.

Caring about the ocean

Shipping envelopes

Our shipping packaging is consciously made from FSC-certified cardboard which is your guarantee as a customer that the highest climate- and environmentally standards are met.

FSC is a globally trusted certification and stands for Forest Stewardship Council. FSC promotes environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economically prosperous management of the world’s forests.

Our shipping envelopes and protection bags are designed to be used again. The best way to take care of the resources of our planet is to reuse and recycle the products and materials we already have available to us.

We can't recycle the planet

Protection bags

Our protection bags are made from recycled cotton (textile waste) - a material usually regarded as valueless. We have chosen to concentrate on recycled cotton since it’s the most used yet least recycled fabric and regular cotton demands an unbearable amount of water to grow.

Even our hangtags, flyers, hygiene patches etc. are made from the highest standards of renewable and environmentally friendly materials
